Integrated Resource- Robins

Culture

If you enter Robins and it is empty that is a positive thing.  It means all children are accessing classroom learning.  Most children who use Robins should be in class 80%-100% of the school day.

We are proud of our resource and the Headteacher advocates it. Our School SENCO coordinates and liaises between external advisors and IR staff to ensure the best for our pupils.  Children spend 50% of their time (minimum) in the mainstream classroom.  Everyone is welcome, everyone is recognised.  The school supports our vulnerable learners and the diversity within our school.  We are proud that the integrated resource supports learners to do well.

We are all SEND teachers

Teachers in our school are aware that it is our responsibility to teach everyone and we ensure that we have CPD to enable us to teach all.  We have a clear graduated approach with SEND provision built into our whole school offer and linked to our school development plan  The most vulnerable members of our school community can access learning in a safe and secure environment IR staff are expert classroom assistants.

The IR supports children when there are escalating or unsettled behaviours, supported by the classroom teaching assistants or one-to-one staff from their classroom.  It minimises lesson disruption and ensures that children have a safe space to learn.  Work is provided by classroom teachers where necessary.

IR staff are not teachers, they form trusted relationships with autistic children, pre verbal children and those unable to access the mainstream classroom throughout the day.  They work together with parents/carers and enable children to learn, they don’t teach them.  Teaching is provided through class teachers, with the exception of specific interventions and life skill development.

What are the benefits of our provision?

  • Stronger educational outcomes
  • Children educated in their community in local mainstream school
  • Positive levels of parent/carer support and interaction with school
  • Play therapists, home school link workers and other specialists work alongside the hub
